1.5 Monsterbusters

It's a beautiful day to continue the story of the Crowes! Enjoy!

"What do you mean you don't want an autograph? Don't you know who I am?" Salim asked upset. Sofia Bjergsen shook her head.
"No, I absolutely do not. And I couldn't care less of an autograph of some nobody!"

"Some nobody!" Salim snapped offended. Trisha and Sofia stayed and watched him drag himself away beaten. "Well, that's it then, I guess. I just go somewhere else..."

"I don't want pees!" Dylan sniffed. "I want cake!"
"It's mommy's birthday today, not yours. Mommy gets cake! But if you eat your peas, you'll grow up to be a big boy."
"Big boy gets cake?"
""Yes. Big boy gets some cake."

"Hmm... What should I wish for? A new pair of jeans would be nice, these are quite tight in the waist area."

"Good bye youth, welcome the challenges of adulthood!"

"Darling, you don't look a day olden than the day we first met!" Salim complimented her warmly. Trisha laughed.
"You flatterer! But gotta say you don't look bad yourself."

These jeans are quite tight though, Trisha thought as she picked a new set of clothes, which would suit her new age better. That's what she got for being so good a cook, that she couldn't resist eating her own cookings, and there was little time for exercising in between gardening, cooking and babysitting.

"Sleep tight honey, I promise, no monster gets to eat you during the night."

Their fairly new nanny La'ei was invaluable help to two working parents. Dylan too got attached to her quickly, and began asking every morning with enthusiasm: "When comes aunt La'ei? When comes aunt La'ei?" Sometimes, if either Salim or Trisha had a day off, poor boy got disappointed after he heard aunt La'ei wouldn't come at all on that day.

La'ei let him eat sweets, she was super smart and told the best bedtime stories before naptime. Of course your own parent were the smartest persons in the world, but in Dylan's mind, La'ei was a close third. And that was something.

Salim had also difficulties with resisting Trisha's cooking. In addition, his basic character was lazy and comfort-seeking, so even the thought of exercising got him out of breath. He didn't mind a couple of extra kilos though, that was the price he was willing to pay for getting to eat Trisha's yummy food.

Clara came to visit the Crowes at almost a daily manner and shared some news. Trisha was happy for the fact that she had at least one so long-term friendship, and made everything she could to keep it blossoming. Yet Clara was significantly older than her, so she knew, their time together was limited. Better to make it count then and appreciate, what they had.

Although Salim loved his job, it was still a job. When was the last time he had took a day off? It was clearly a too long time ago.

"So you watch Brave and Pretty too? How lovely! Have you already seen the episode where Allison catches her husband woohooing with his ex-lover?"
"Not yet... It looks like it will happen in the next episode..."

"Mama, I saw a monstel! A weal monstel! Come and make it go away!"
"Oh honey, of course. The monster has no chance when it faces me."

"But what if the monstel is thele stalking outside of the window?"
"Don't worry, sweetie, I'll take care of that it never makes it inside. I'll chase it away so angrily that it never ever dares to return and scare you again."

Luckily no monsters disturbed the bathtimes, which were Dylan's favourite moments of the day. Swimming in bubbly water and pretending to be a fish was so much fun!

One night Trisha decided to host a dinner party to her closest friends. She had learned a fair amount of new recipes and wanted to test them too, and even with the help from her family she couldn't possibly eat everything alone. Besides, spoiling your friends with tasty food was a great way for maintaining peace in the neighbourhood.

Even Marcus got an invitation. At this point he and Trisha were on good terms, in many years there hadn't been any coming-on-attempts from his part. Maybe the message was finally clear. He had aged rather stylish, she had to admit, and seemed to be in a good shape for a man of his age. Trisha really hoped he had lived a good life with his wife.

The evening was successful, and the guests praised her tasty dishes. "I hope there will be more of these events?" La'ei asked. "I want to spoil my baby with delicacies as often as possible!"
Trisha sparked with pride and joy. Look at her, being a good housewife!
"Congratulations of the soon-to-be-born baby", she said to La'ei. "Dylan will be inconsolable though, when you have your maternity leave."
"Don't worry, the co-worker I recommended to you is very nice and competent. You'll be absolutely fine! It won't be long before you won't even remember I exist!"
"I doubt that!"

"Dylan don't want a new nanny. Dylan want La'ei."
"I know. But La'ei is on a maternity leave. She will soon have a little baby, and maybe you can play with him or her, when he or she grows up."
"I don't want to."
"Well, okay then. Suit yourself."

While waiting for the new nanny Trisha decided to try and lose some weight. She had heard about a new trendy dance, Plumboomba, and quickly found an introduction video from SimTube. Soon she was shaking her hips and twisting and twirling, lost in her own world.
"This is... quite fun... but... *huff* a bit heavy!" she huffed.
"Mama, what is the new nanny's name?"
"*Puff* Riikka, darling. Riikka Nieminen."
"I don't want to."
"That's... too bad *huff* But nothing that... can be... helped."

Too soon the parents had to go to work and left Dylan alone with the scary new nanny. Luckily Clara decided to visit and say hi, so that Dyl had even one familiar face there for comfort.
Riikka told wild stories. Dylan wasn't sure, what to think about them, or should he believe them at all. Clara seemed to laugh at them, so maybe they weren't true at all?

But they were about monsters, which had been chased away from here and there by Riikka herself. So maybe she was okay after all?

"Wiikka..."
"Yes, little one?"
"Can you keep monstels away?"
"Of course. I have an official Monsterbuster licence and I'm always ready to go."
Dylan felt a little more relieved. Maybe he would get along with this new nanny after all.

"Gaah! Not again!"
Trisha was pissed. During the short walking trip from her front door to the road she had managed to fall on not just one, but two mud puddles. In a row! "Now my back hurts. After I've survived this day I'll spoil myself with tasty fruit salad!"

And she kept that promise. After getting the first spoonful in her mouth the world seemed immediately a happier place. Trisha's thoughts wandered to Dylan't upcoming birthday. His little boy was going to grow up to the child state! Why did time have to fly so quickly? Soon he would become an adult and would inherit the responsibility of building Newcrest. Trisha hoped he would understand the legacy and fulfill his role with pride. She couldn't wait to see, how he would contribute, what he would build for the residents of the neighbourhood.

Before that, it would be best to let him be a child as long as possible and let him enjoy his freedom while it lasted.

  1. I have to say. Marcus is the most hippiest elder I've ever seen. He even put kids to shame with his style.

  2. I have to say, your English is amazing! Also, I could easily see Dylan as the owner of a restaurant in Newcrest as an adult!

    1. Thank you so much! It would indeed be amazing to start a restaurant with him, or with Trish, if I didn't just follow the rules so strictly! :D
